Remember, remember always, that all of us, you and I especially, are descended from immigrants and revolutionists.

Citizenship and Naturalization

The goal of many immigrants is to one day become citizens of the United States. In reality, there are many benefits to becoming a citizen of the United States, including:

Generally speaking, the process of applying for citizenship is straightforward. When an applicant has been a lawful permanent resident for five years he or she can apply for citizenship via naturalization. As with many areas of immigration law, there are certain exceptions to this rule.

Occasionally, many who think they need to naturalize are already citizens without even knowing. In some cases, an applicant may even be eligible to participate in the naturalization interview and test in their native language.

There are pitfalls as well. Certain criminal behavior or negative immigration history can impact whether citizenship is granted or withheld even if the conduct does not seem to be much of a big deal. In extreme cases, negative factors can lead to placement in deportation proceedings.

Our team has years of experience assisting in the preparation of applications for naturalization, as well as all other aspects of citizenship in the United States, including registering births abroad, applying for a certificate of citizenship and, when necessary, suing the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS).

Far more than filling out forms, our team of professionals manages communication with USCIS and helps prepare our clients for their naturalization interview and exams, including the staging of mock interviews. An attorney is present at each and every naturalization interview at no extra cost. We work with our clients to tailor a comprehensive strategy for naturalizing, taking into account their individual needs and goals.
